In
general, Kachina Village street names are either
Hopi or Navajo in origin. Here is a list of street
names, pronunciation, and what they mean.
In 2010 Coconino County came through and changed the street numbers and some street names to meet emergency guidelines. This list includes the old names as well. The new names have a lot of english words that reference different places, items or common sayings. The reason given for the street name changes was on of 3 things: 1) Duplicate Street Names, a lot of the Ovi's also had the same street name with Trail, ex: Kweo Trail and Kweo Ovi. The county views this as a duplicate street name. 2) Unconventional spellings or hard to pronounce. The replaced; Dinnebito, Dot Klish, Klagetoh, Naahtee, Salahkai, Sanostee, Shongopovi, Sichomovi and Teastoh. 3) There were two streets that wrapped around to a seperate area (Kachina Trail & Toho Trail), they took a section of them and renamed it Canyon Loop to make it less confusing.

In Kachina Village, cul-de-sacs are indicated by

for Hopi definitions. Thanks to Shonto Begay for
some Navajo definitions.
